Tucson Gunsmithing and Firearm Appraisals originated with the idea of starting a family business that could be handed down to our children as they grow older. Since gunsmithing is a conglomerate of several unique and challenging disciplines, i.e. metal working, wood working, mechanical engineering, engraving, carving, welding, machine shop skills, and others, I thought it best that I pursue a field that would have something that interested at least some of the family.
So, in 2011, I took the plunge and enrolled in the American Gunsmithing Institutes Practical Gunsmithing Course completing it in 2012. This was a basic course that only served to whet my appetite for more. So I enrolled in the AGI Master Gunsmithing Course as soon as I finished the Practical Course.
I have had the privilege of learning the in-depth intricacies of pistols, revolvers, centerfire rifles, 22 rimfire rifles and shotgun systems. But I didn't just learn one or two particular guns in each category. AGI teaches systems. They concentrate on teaching how each system works and why. They train gunsmiths to be able to pick up any weapon and identify what type of system it uses, thereby enabling one to quickly narrow down what may be causing the problem and how to repair it.
This concept of teaching is perfectly in line with my training I received in the Air Force for avionics and communications, as well as my training in television engineering, video editing, multi-media system installation, website development and other areas of interest. All of the experience I've received in each of these disciplines contribute to what I now do each day.
In April 2013, my wife and I founded JCG Enterprises LLC, the parent corporation for Tucson Gunsmithing and Firearms Appraisals.
